RIBBONS TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Qualifications for Entry: As this is a Ladies only tournament all competitors must be female. All competitors must be financial members of a Club affiliated with QGFA or GFAA. All competitors will be eligible to claim QGFA or GFAA records in any category. All QGFA events must be fished under GFAA Rules and Fishing Regulation.

2. Line Class: 10kg or 15 kg If line class is not recorded on score sheet points will be allocated according to 15kg line class

3. Tag and Release: All Billfish to be Tagged & Released for points. Tags available at briefing.

4. Eligible Species: All species except sharks that are listed in GFAA Record Charts.

Edible Fish, as defined by the committee, are  Cobia, Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. Edible fish may be gilled and gutted on capture, but must be kept on ice. An additional 10% is to be added to the weight of the cleaned fish before calculation of points. Edible fish need not be line class to be weighed.

Other game fish ( ie those not consider edible by the committee) must be line class to be weighed except for junior anglers.

Juniors can weight any number of fish over line class weight but will also be allowed to weigh any gamefish under line class to a max of three fish per species.

5. Points Score is as follows: All fish weighed must be legal fish in size and bag limits. In the event of a tie, the first team or angler reaching the winning total will be declared the winner.

Billfish : Nominal weight is 60kg, i.e. 10 kg line = 600 + 50% Bonus = 900 points, 15 kg line = 400 + 50% bonus =600points

6. Fishing Grounds: Opal Reef to Raaf Shoals. Be aware of Green Zones rules and regulations.

7. Sailpast: 0700 hrs

All vessels must participate in the sail past commencing from the Marlin Wharf at 0700hrs. Vessels must pass the Marlin Jetty in single file as per instructions given at the briefing for the judging of the Best Decorated Boat. The committee will individually consider exceptions to this rule. Departure before 0700 will not be permitted in any circumstance.

8. Fishing Hours: Fishing will commence at 0830hrs and cease at 1700hrs. Any fish hooked before cease fishing time may be played out and is eligible for points, provided the hook up is notified at cease of fishing and the team meets the weigh-in cut off time - 2000hrs.

9. Weigh In: All captured fish must be weighed at the Marlin Marina between 1800hrs and 2000hrs. All teams must present completed Score Sheets and Tag Cards to the Weighmaster even if no fish were caught. Potential Records must be announced at time of capture & must not be mutilated.

10. Teams: Teams must be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 anglers.

11. Judges: Judges will be appointed by the Committee, with the judges decision being final and binding.

12. Protests: All protests must be submitted in writing by the Team Captain to the Executive Committee no later than 0900hrs on Sunday 3rd December.

13. Radio Schedules: Frequencies VHF 81 Times 1105, 1405, 1645hrs.
